Smart School Council
Smart School Council
At our school, the children are at the heart of everything we do. It is essential that they have a voice and are encouraged to grow into active, democratic citizens who can make a real difference in their community.
To support this, we have launched our Smart School Council. Unlike traditional school councils where only a small group of pupils are elected, our Smart School Council involves every single pupil in the school. Each child has an important role to play, ensuring that everyone’s ideas and opinions are valued and heard.
Through class meetings, pupils discuss key questions, share their views, and vote on decisions that affect school life. This helps children to:
Develop confidence in speaking and listening.
Learn how democracy works in a fair and inclusive way.
Understand the importance of teamwork and respect for others’ opinions.
Take responsibility for making positive changes in their school community.
By giving all pupils a voice, our Smart School Council helps create a stronger, kinder, and more inclusive school where every child knows that their ideas matter.
Smart School Council - Autumn One
This half term, our School Counsellors will be working with each class to explore an important question as part of our Smart School Council:
“Which of our school values matter the most?”
Our pupils will be reflecting on the five core values that underpin life at our school:
Respect
Resilience
Kindness
Inclusivity
Independence
Through discussion and collaboration, children will have the opportunity to share their views, think carefully about the role these values play in school life, and consider how they guide learning, behaviour, and relationships.
We look forward to hearing the children’s perspectives and celebrating the values that mean the most to our school community.
📣 Exciting News from Our School Council!
Our School Council has successfully completed their first class meeting! During this meeting, they gathered the children’s thoughts and opinions about our school values.
Each class had the opportunity to vote on which school value is most important to them, and we are thrilled to share that the children chose Respect as the value that matters most. 🌟
We are so proud of our students for sharing their ideas and participating in this important process. The School Council will continue to work on initiatives that help promote Respect and all our school values throughout the year.
