Please see below our key learning in Maths documents. These will show what children learn in maths within each year group.
We have based these on the principles of White Rose Maths Hub and use their resources to enhance children's learning. The progression of these skills can be seen in the links below.
Mastering Number Programme (NCETM)
EYFS and Key Stage 1 participate in the Mastering Number Programme, developed by the NCETM. This programme is delivered to the children four times a week by the class teacher for between 10-15 minutes.
It aims for all children to have:
- a good sense of number
- automaticity in additive facts
- an understanding of the connections with areas of mathematics
Research shows that children with secure ‘number sense’ early on will make more progress later on in Maths and across the curriculum.
Over the year, the children will experience using a range of resources and representations, including a small abacus-like piece of equipment called a rekenrek.
