Class information

Hello, I am Mrs Rowland and I am the year two class teacher. Mrs Straker works with me in year two throughout the week. The children are also taught by Miss McElhone on a Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. 

We have PE on a Thursday afternoon, please send your child in their PE kit and school jumper, making sure earrings are removed or covered with plasters. During the colder months you may wish to send an extra layer e.g. blue /black jacket or hoodie as the children may do PE outside. 

I am available before and after school if you have any concerns or problems but please make an appointment if you wish to spend more than 5 minutes with me!

We are off to a great start already in year two! 

Our history this half term is all about the gun powder plot and why bonfire night is celebrated. 

Art will see the children investigating clay, making patterns and developing skills to create a tile which look like a house. 

In computing we will be thinking about digital photography. We will have a continuous theme of internet safety throughout the school year. 

Over the autumn term our topic in PSHE is relationships, we will be discussing topics around families and friendships, healthy relationships and respecting ourselves and others. 

In RE this half term the children will be learning with Miss McElhone about Christianity and why Jesus is described as 'The light of the world', they will also enjoy music sessions together each week.

In English we will be using the story 'The great fairytale disaster' to write our own traditional tales with a twist!

In maths we will be using lots of practical resources to gain a secure understanding of the place value of numbers to 100 and addition and subtraction and also shape.
