SPECIAL AGENT TRAINING!

 

Someone has broken into our classroom! This week we have been using all the reading, writing and maths skills we have been learning in year two to gather evidence and find out who it was!

On Monday we found a code that had been left by the culprit. We had to use our mental addition and subtraction skills to crack the code and find out what the message said!

On Tuesday we used our measuring skills to measure the evidence left at the crime scene. We measured mass, length, height and volume. Before we did this we had to do elimination finger prints so that we did not contaminate the scene!

We were also sent a witness statement from a lady who lives in Brookfield. We had to read this very carefully and answer some questions about what she said. We found more clues in this about who it could have been!

On Wednesday, as we had our suspicions that the guilty party was Mr Toad from our story 'Wind in the Willows', we thought about all the different ways he could have travelled from school to Toad Hall. We followed directions to find different routes he could have taken.

By Thursday we were quite sure that the culprit was Mr Toad, however, there was another clue left at the crime scene and we found that actually it had been tidied up a little bit. 

We had to check the calculations in this clue were correct, if they were we coloured the square, if they were wrong we left it blank! 

During break time a letter had arrived, we could only just about read it as there were lots of mistakes. We used our reading and editing skills to fix the mistakes. After today's activities we are certain it was Toad!

We realised that maybe Toad didn't mean to cause so mush mess, however, the chief of police wanted and in depth recount of our investigation. We gathered the evidence together and put a time line of Toad's movements together. We then wrote our recount and our findings up for the chief of police!
